ETP Treatment Process — How It Works
Stage 1 — Pre-Treatment
Screening, oil and grease separation, equalization tank to balance flow and load variations.
Stage 2 — Primary Treatment
Coagulation and flocculation to remove suspended solids and colloidal matter. Clarifier for sludge separation.
Stage 3 — Secondary (Biological) Treatment
Aerobic and/or anaerobic biological treatment — MBBR, SBR, or activated sludge — to break down organic pollutants and reduce BOD and COD.
Stage 4 — Tertiary Treatment
Sand filtration, activated carbon adsorption, UV disinfection, and chemical dosing for final polishing to meet discharge standards.
Stage 5 — Sludge Management
Sludge thickening, dewatering by filter press, and disposal or reuse as per CPCB guidelines.
Stage 6 — ZLD (Optional)
Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE) or Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD) for zero liquid discharge — required in water-stressed and notified industrial areas.
